Who is Sparkle Cookie? My name is Sharon and I am Sparkle Cookie. I am a one-woman craft business. I’m a library student, a middle school tutor and a passionate crafter. Thank you for helping support my hobby. What kinds of dye do you use? I use food coloring in all my soaps (Sparkle Tarts) and FD&C micas in the Sparkle Melts, Sparkle Fluff, Sparkle Smoothers and Sparkle Nectars. If you are allergic to FD&C coloring, you should NOT use Sparkle Cookie products. Are the bath goodies vegan? Yes and no. I try to use vegan ingredients, but I'm not completely sure of all of them. The soap bases (get more info here) and basic bath melt and lotion bar ingredients (baking soda, citric acid, cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter, almond oil) are vegan, but the dyes may not be. I've heard non-vegan things about FD&C Red 40 in particular. I will add vegan notations as soon as I figure it all out. Please email me if you have any concerns. What's a honu? Honu means turtle in Hawaiian. Go to the World Turtle Trust to learn more. Why are the ingredients listed differently on the labels and on the website? The FDA requires that cosmetics and soaps be labeled using the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI). Visit the FDA website if you're interested. The INCI terms are not commonly used words. I list more familiar ingredients in some places on the website for your convenience. Do you test your products? Of course! Every recipe is tested by me and my small group of testers. How are Sparkle Cookie products different? Every Sparkle Cookie product is fun, colorful and sparkly. Everything you order will arrive happily packaged, sparkling and smelling fantastic. It'll be a box full of sunshine. What is a bath melt? Bath melts are wonderful morsels of cocoa butter, almond oil, fragrance and fizz. When you drop them in the bath water, they fizz and melt throughout the water. They're fantastic for your skin and so much fun in the bath. What is a lotion bar? Lotion bars are all the goodness of a nourishing lotion without the water. I mix several butters together with beeswax and almond oil and come up with a solid that melts with the heat of your skin. Plus, now that you can't take liquids on airplanes, solids are just more convenient. What is a salt scrub? My salt scrubs are foaming bath wash with built-in scrubbies. The salt dissolves easily in water so it won't clog your shower drain and won't scrub your skin raw. The salt will gently exfoliate your skin while the foam moisturizes the heck out of it. It's fun stuff. Who makes the bath goodies? I make everything myself except the soap, fluff and bubble bath bases. I buy premade bases so that I can spend more time playing with scent, color and sparkle. I purchase everything from a wonderful company called Brambleberry. Why are there limited quantities of everything? I am a one woman operation. I make bath goodies in small batches to preserve freshness and I make jewelry as the inspiration strikes me. All of the jewelry is one of a kind and the bath products will change as I come up with better recipes and/or respond to feedback from people. What's with the Ks? I love Ks. I always have. Once, when I was small, I circled all of the Ks in my dad's newspaper. I was quite proud. Do you take special orders? I respond with a definitive maybe. Email me and we can talk about it. If you are interested in placing a large order for a wedding/baby shower or a party, please let me know the date of the occasion. Is the jewelry really one of a kind? Absolutely. I don't make duplicates. Everything is unique. If you see something you like, you'd better scoop it up before someone else does. What is a Sparkle Cookie anyway? I like sparkles and I like cookies so I became a sparkle cookie. I needed a user name for Craftster and it stuck. |
